The most frequent questions and answers

How can i get the epi test?

ExoDx® Prostate(IntelliScore) – EPI – must be ordered by your physician. Your physician will fill out a requisition, collect the urine sample, and forward the kit to our laboratory for testing.

Does the EPI test replace psa testing?

No. Your physician may use the EPI test in conjunction with your PSA result to help make recommendations regarding prostate biopsy.

How long does it take to get results?

The test results will be available to your physician to share with you, 3 – 5 days after receipt of your sample in our laboratory.

What does my EPI score mean?

Increasing EPI score correlates with greater risk of High Grade Prostate Cancer (HGPCa) upon biopsy.

Frequently asked billing-related questions

Is the EPI test covered by health insurance?

We are committed to working with your health insurance company and will directly bill your insurer for the EPI test ordered by your physician. Your insurance company will determine if the test is a covered benefit.

Please provide your health insurance card at the time the sample is collected.

If I have health insurance, will i have to pay out-of-pocket for this test?

Exosome will make a concerted effort, including appeals, if necessary to have your health insurance company cover the EPI test. Patients with health insurance may be required by their insurance company to pay an out-of-pocket amount for the test if it is covered, for instance a co-pay, co-insurance amount and/or deductible, depending on the coverage plan you chose. In some cases, your insurance company may contractually require you to pay for non-covered services out of pocket.

If I have a bill for my co-pay, co-insurance and/or deductible, what are the options for paying my bill with exosome?

Please call the Exosome billing team to set up an individual payment plan to pay any outstanding balances. We offer several individually tailored payment plans for our patients.
